Location: Watford Campus WD17 3EZSalary: From *GBP*25,996.94 (unqualified) to *GBP*33,486.48 (qualified level 5 teaching) per annum based on *GBP*32,606.33 to *GBP*42,000 FTE.Contractual Hours: 29.50Basis: Fractional

The School of Art and Design is looking for an enthusiastic and flexible lecturer to join our contemporary, forward thinking, and high achieving team on a 0.8fte contract.

Working closely with our students, stakeholders and employers, you will strive for continuous improvement and higher standards for the benefit of the whole community. We aim to do the ordinary things extraordinarily well.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a broad range of skills to predominantly teach on our UAL Level 3 Fine Art course. You will be delivering both industry skills and knowledge to our eager students.

Candidates should demonstrate competence in various creative and technical processes such as but not limited to:

  • Drawing and observational skills
  • Painting and mixed media techniques
  • Printmaking and experimental image-making
  • Sculpture and three-dimensional processes
  • Contemporary Fine Art practices
  • Conceptual development and creative experimentation
  • Research, contextual studies and critical thinking
  • Communication and presentation skills

Knowledge and experience of digital creative processes, installation, exhibition practice and contemporary approaches to Fine Art is desirable.

These skills will not only enhance our learners academic journey but also prepare them for successful progression into Higher Education and careers within Fine Art and the wider creative industries.

The successful candidate will be positive, enthusiastic, resilient and have an eagerness to seek out development opportunities for our courses. You will also be able to demonstrate an adaptive and flexible teaching style to support and stretch a diverse range of students.

Teaching experience and relevant qualifications are desirable although we are keen to hear from anyone with the right skills and who is willing to engage in self-development.

It is essential that our courses reflect contemporary creative and industry practices, and you will be key in driving course development to ensure it remains relevant and meets the needs of our learners and the wider creative sector. You should also expect to provide prompt, accurate and detailed assessment of student work at key stages during the academic year.

This is a part-time role working 29.5 hours per week. The closing date for applications is Thursday 17th September 2026.
