Position The position is onsite and based in Miramar, Florida. The position is not eligible for work authorization sponsorship. Position Summary The Lead, Systems Engineering provides robust infrastructure solutions to support Royal Caribbean Group’s diverse compute needs, ancillary tooling, and services.

This role offers the opportunity to work across a broad set of systems, taking on cross‑functional challenges and projects that drive impactful results. The Lead partners with business and product teams globally, ensuring the evolution of data systems and compute environments aligns with rapidly changing business requirements and strategic initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supports alignment and development of strategies and architecture for services and infrastructure that underpin both operational and strategic initiatives.

Guides the development of processes and strategies to deliver high‑quality, reliable products into RCG’s infrastructure. Defines innovative methods for solving challenges unique to hyperscale business environments. Partners with Product Design teams to deliver fit‑for‑function products and solutions.

Collaborates with internal teams to ensure data systems evolve to meet ongoing business requirements. Establishes and fosters strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, overcoming obstacles to ensure delivery of quality, schedule, and cost objectives. Guides support for globally utilized test frameworks and test automation infrastructure, supporting operations, qualification, and reliability testing.

Maintains RCG’s globally distributed virtual compute environment, focusing on performance, availability, and growth. Designs and maintains monitoring, reporting, and capacity planning functions using internal data systems. Develops and maintains virtualization disaster recovery strategies integrated with production targets.

Works with hardware vendors and internal teams to deliver compute and storage strategies aligned with RCG’s data center standards and lifecycle management. Builds effective partnerships with business, product teams, and service owners to provide first‑class compute infrastructure. Plans and leads implementation of complex application and system designs.

Champions process improvements through automation. Defines interdependencies with other disciplines and participates in testing and certification processes. Leads, directs, and provides technical guidance to a team of engineers.

Recommends process, organizational, and system changes to support key team objectives. Supports, operates, and maintains computer systems and software applications. Interprets, refines, and applies methods and procedures in accordance with SDLC, IT industry standards, and RCG best practices.

Remains current with industry trends to recommend technical approaches for IT systems and solutions. Able to travel as necessary to perform required job duties. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. 8+ years of experience with Hyper‑V and VMware virtualization technology (Vmware vSphere). 5+ years of experience in hybrid cloud computing environments (Azure/AWS). 8+ years managing Windows Server environments. 5+ years working with Cisco UCS server platforms. 5+ years managing hyperconverged server infrastructure. Wide‑ranging expert knowledge of Active Directory managing global AD environments (ADDS, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, NPS, etc). Strong scripting skills in PowerShell. 5+ years of Group Policy and Desired State Configuration authoring experience.

Experience with automation tools for Windows and VMware resource deployments (on‑prem and cloud). Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer‑service skills.

Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to independently manage projects and issues. Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to multi‑task. Ability to build supportive relationships with peers, clients, partners, and IT leadership.

Professionalism and ability to navigate high‑pressure situations. Ability to retain and protect confidential material. Expert proficiency in cloud computing, capacity planning & management, hardware infrastructure, performance management and tuning, system development lifecycle, incident management, problem management, and scripting systems engineering.

Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.), Azure Arc, GitHub, Linux distribution systems, programming in Python, PowerCLI, Go, Ruby, PowerShell, BASH. Understanding of multi‑tiered web service architecture and SaaS models. F5 administration and enterprise system monitoring tools (e.g., AppDynamics).

Managing server technology in the cruising industry is a plus. Ability to lead, direct, and provide technical guidance to engineering teams. Strong collaboration and partnership skills.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and presentation skills. Proactive, adaptable, and able to align activities to meet organizational goals.
