Lead Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a senior, hands-on engineering leader who can take broader technical ownership across the team and drive complex engineering initiatives independently.

Key Responsibilities

• Own technical design and execution for complex engineering initiatives.
• Translate business and operational requirements into clear, scalable technical solutions.
• Drive execution across multiple engineering projects and workstreams.
• Review architecture, implementation approach and overall engineering quality.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and coordinate resolution across teams.
• Own backend and production engineering decisions across critical services.
• Mentor engineers and improve technical decision-making within the team.
• Remain hands-on with debugging, design reviews and implementation when required.
• Drive delivery, prioritisation and technical follow-through.
• Improve engineering processes, reliability, observability and operational discipline.
• Identify architectural and technical risks early and drive appropriate remediation.
• Partner with Product, Operations and other stakeholders to ensure engineering outcomes align with business needs.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on backend or full-stack engineering background.
• Deep experience with Node.js / MERN stack.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Strong understanding of APIs, databases, queues, asynchronous processing and distributed systems.
• Experience owning and supporting production-grade systems.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis capability.
• Experience handling critical production incidents and complex system failures.
• Strong architectural thinking and requirement-understanding ability.
• Experience technically leading or mentoring engineers.
• Ability to operate across multiple projects and priorities.
• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive execution independently.
