Role Title: Lead Catastrophe Analyst Position Summary: This position is assigned responsibility to develop catastrophe model results as assigned, providing review of model outputs and analysis of their accuracy and integrity. This individual is responsible for the operation of simulation models, working under the supervision of the Manager and with the assistance and general oversight of the Manager(s) Natural Hazard Peril Underwriting. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the collection of the most appropriate data to be used for the assignment.
In addition, it is expected that this individual will work in close collaboration with other team members to identify and resolve issues relating to data quality and interpretation of the model output results. Interaction with various levels of Staff and Operations management, as well as direct coordination with Research, outside model providers and company brokers may be required for individual assignments Job Responsibilities: Description: Proficiently model the exposure and provide support for department activities as directed. Identify any significant erroneous model outputs and in close collaborationwith other analysts, provide recommendations for resolving.
Collaborate with other analysts and I.S. resources to assure that corporate data sources used in the modeling process accurately reflects the trueexposure. Prepare a complete package of the information necessary for the underwriting exception decision making of the assigned perils based onthe Operations request and associated model run output. Produce reports on a regular and on an as-needed basis to supportDepartment personnel in their job functions.
Under the direction of one of the Natural Hazard Peril managers(s), conduct what-if analyses to determine the impact of various underwritingchanges for the assigned perils Skill and Experience: 5 years of experiencerequired to perform essential job functions. Additional Experience Qualifier (optional): 5+ years of computer model experience along with underwriting experience and direct exposure to aggregation measurement concepts. Verisk Certified Catastophe Risk Modeler (VCCRM) (Formerly CEEM) or equivalent Strong analytical skills, supported by previous experience Strong computer skills including comprehensive experience in Microsoft office products, primarily Excel, database management/utility preferred Good communication and presentation skills High level of accuracy and dependability Basic understanding of insurance structures and reinsurance placements Proficiency with SQL/R Must Have Skills: Proficiency with SQL/R Verisk Certified Catastophe Risk Modeler (VCCRM) (Formerly CEEM) Strong skills in excel and database management/utility is desirable Education and Certifications: 4 Year/ bachelors degree required.
