Java Software Engineer

Sheffield | Hybrid | Long‑Term Contract | Global Financial Markets | £450+ A major global financial institution is looking for Mid‑Level and Senior Full Stack Engineers to join a high‑impact engineering function working on large‑scale, business‑critical platforms used across global markets. These roles are offered on a long‑term contract basis with strong potential for extension. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering group responsible for enhancing and maintaining complex Java‑based services that support regulatory, operational and data‑driven processes across multiple regions.

The Role As a Full Stack Engineer, you will: Work within a global engineering team delivering enhancements to core backend and service‑based systems Take ownership of the full software development lifecycle for the changes you implement Deliver remediation and incremental fixes to tight deadlines Maintain and improve the codebase (defects, vulnerabilities, enhancements) Support operational teams through tooling, automation and improved capabilities Collaborate with upstream technology groups to improve data quality and reduce complexity Operate within a POD‑style delivery model with clear charters and objectives What You’ll Bring Mid‑Level: 3–5 years’ commercial Java experience Senior: 5+ years’ commercial Java experience plus leadership in delivery Both levels require: Degree in Computer Science or related field Excellent communication skills and ability to work with global stakeholders Strong problem‑solving ability and delivery focus Familiarity with DevOps and SRE concepts Experience with CI/CD and build pipelines Nice to Have Environment, Change & Release Management Cloud concepts (ideally GCP ) GitHub/Jenkins, Jira, Confluence Experience in financial services or regulated environments Why This Contract?
