Role is based in Dublin office. Hybrid working environment with mandatory days in office. Some evening and weekend work may be required to meet business requirements.

Participation in on-call out of hours rota to 10pm is mandatory (1 week in 4). Job Purpose The IT System Administrator is responsible for providing first-line support to all College staff in relation to PC, laptop, network, server, printer and general IT issues. Responsibilities Championing and effecting a high quality, student-centric culture of service provision.

Deployment, configuration and management of network infrastructure in cloud and on-premise data centre. Monitoring and Troubleshooting of Network, Systems in our on-premise and O365 datacentre (server OS hardware and backups). Participate in projects, plan, new designs and implementation.

Provide phone, email and desk support to internal and external staff. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. As necessary, escalate issues quickly and concisely to IT management.

Set up accounts and workstations. Ensure all documentation and systems are up to date and accurate. Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

Assessing the quality and feasibility of current system. Maintain installation and configuration documentation. Contribute to and maintain system standards.

Evaluating current security protocols. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted staff.

Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.

Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. Comply with all the necessary operational requirements, including Timesheets, out of hours cover, Ticket system. Liaises with internal/external parties to analyse business procedure, clarify requirements and to define the scope of existing software, hardware and network provision.

Participate is self-directed learning on new technologies and processes. Performs any other reasonable duty associated to the role assigned. Requirements/Qualifications Minimum of Degree in IT (Level 7) or related subject.

Industry certification desirable in any of the following: Azure, MS Office, VMWare, Cisco Networking, Veeam, Symantec AV, MS Win11 would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate up, down and across the College in a professional manner. This is a customer support role and the ability to deal with colleagues across the organisation is a key requirement.

Excellent problem solving, organisational and time management skills. A mature, flexible, and professional attitude towards dealing with colleagues at all levels. Demonstrate a dynamic interest in solving technical issues as well as learning new skills.
