At Royal London Ireland, we're looking for a IT Support Analyst - Protection, to join our Application Services team and play a key role in supporting the technology and applications that underpin our Protection business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong application support experience who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, working across technology teams, and becoming a trusted technical expert within a business-critical environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Protection Support Lead, you'll act as a technical subject matter expert, supporting both Operations and the wider Change & Technology function. You'll help ensure the stability, performance and ongoing development of key business applications, while building deep knowledge of the systems and infrastructure that support them. The successful candidate will report into the Protection Support Lead.
You'll investigate and resolve complex technical issues, support change initiatives, and work closely with business and technology stakeholders to drive continuous improvement across the application estate.
Key Responsibilities
Application & Operational Support
- Provide advanced support for business-critical applications.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex incidents and technical issues.
- Monitor application performance and support service stability.
- Work closely with Operations teams to understand business processes and system usage.
Technical Expertise & Knowledge Management
- Develop deep knowledge of application functionality, integrations and data flows.
- Act as a go-to technical expert across the application landscape.
- Maintain documentation, known issue logs and support materials.
- Support knowledge sharing and capability building across teams
Infrastructure & Technical Operations
- Build a strong understanding of application architecture, cloud environments and data integrations.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to diagnose and resolve cross-functional issues.
- Support SQL-related activities including data investigations, validation and issue resolution.
- Assist with environment-level changes and technical improvements
Continuous Improvement & Change
- Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Drive improvements to systems, support processes and service delivery models.
- Support project teams with operational readiness and production releases.
- Ensure new solutions are supportable and understood prior to implementation.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to working across teams.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience in application support, systems support or technical operations.
- Strong SQL and data investigation skills.
- Knowledge of cloud and infrastructure environments, particularly Azure.
- Experience troubleshooting issues across application, database and infrastructure layers.
- A methodical and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail and ownership of issues from identification through to resolution.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
