Job Description
Job Summary The International Area Sales Manager (IASM) is responsible for managing the performance of International Account Executives (IAEs) to achieve revenue growth within a specific geographic territory of the international service portfolio. They provide guidance on IAE performance, respond to internal and external customer requests, and liaise between various functions. A preference is given to candidates who are in close proximity to the assigned territory.
Responsibilities and Duties Conduct joint customer visits with IAEs to share sales and negotiation expertise with the sales team. Drive various product business plans to support targeted sales opportunities, account penetration, and sales growth strategies. Share customer feedback with operations teams to increase awareness of recurring customer issues.
Manage resources and people processes (e.g., career development, training, staffing) to ensure day‑to‑day administration of processes and formal procedures. Review plan versus actual to support sales team performance and create action plans to improve sales results. Conduct weekly sales meetings, assemble and create sales meeting material to present to sales staff, operations staff, or other visitors.
Generate regular progress and status updates to the Director of Sales. Audit and approve expense reports of direct reports. Knowledge and Skills Demonstrate familiarity with core service offerings across business units and deep knowledge of one business unit’s product, service, and customer‑facing technology offerings.
Compare UPS products, services, and technologies with competitors and develop plans to leverage strengths and address gaps. Apply business, financial, and industry knowledge to guide account decisions and understand operating structures. Coaching and developmental skills: review and coach team members on revenue results, provide pre‑ and post‑sales call feedback, and strengthen consultative selling, negotiation, and positioning skills.
Conduct detailed competitive and customer analysis to identify prospects, assess needs, and recommend improvements. Create documented account strategies and evaluate key financial indicators to meet customer needs and align with industry trends. Negotiate effectively in complex situations and secure consensus from involved parties.
Identify root causes of customer issues and engage resources to resolve them. Build and maintain strategic customer partnerships across the customer organization. Apply supply chain concepts and recommend changes to resolve supply chain problems.
Basic Qualifications U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship). Currently located in or willing to relocate to the same geographic location as the position. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or current UPS employee with three years of UPS experience.
Minimum 2 years of enterprise or international sales experience. Previous management and leadership experience. Employee Type Permanent Pay Range and Benefits The salary range for this position is $114,420.00/year to $199,860.00/year.
Actual compensation is based on various factors such as location, job‑related knowledge, skills, education/training, and work experience. This position is eligible for the sales incentive plan and annual management incentive plan, subject to applicable eligibility requirements.
