Intermediate Bridge Engineer

Role Description Arcadis is seeking an Intermediate Bridge Engineer to join our innovative Design and Engineering team within the Mobility business area. In this role you will lead the design and construction of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other transportation related structures, develop creative solutions for new bridge designs and rehabilitation projects, and use your expertise in OSIM inspections, investigations and technical assessment reports to drive safe and sustainable renewal of vital infrastructure. Responsibilities Lead preparation of preliminary and detailed designs for bridges, culverts and other transportation related structures.

Perform structural inspections, analysis and calculations to ensure safety, durability and efficiency. Prepare comprehensive reports and contract documents to support project delivery. Coordinate and review drawing production, maintaining close communication with other engineering disciplines.

Serve as key point of contact during construction, providing liaison services and conducting site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications. Uphold rigorous quality control and assurance standards. Coach and mentor junior engineers, designers, technicians and co‑ops, fostering a collaborative team environment.

Assist with preparation of proposals and bids for new work, contributing to business development. Implement project management practices to deliver results on a wide range of bridge projects. Maintain a passion for professional growth and support of team members’ development.

Qualifications & Experience Undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from an accredited university. Licensed Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (or another provincial association) preferred. Minimum four (4) years of design experience for new bridges and bridge rehabilitations for various bridge types and materials including highway and rail bridges.

Experience and proven knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and provincial/territorial standards. Familiarity with OSIM and at least two (2) years of experience in OSIM bridge and culvert inspections, preferably within the Ottawa region. Knowledge of structural analysis software and working knowledge of CAD software.

Commitment to deadlines, excellence and high‑quality work with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Analytical thinker and problem solver who can present ideas and design rationale.

Benefits Salary range: $78,000 - $97,500. Base salary within Arcadis hiring range. Salary based on location, skills, experience and qualification for the role.
