12-month term contract (with potential to convert to a permanent position) | On-site in Downtown Vancouver | Must hold a valid Canadian Work Visa Our client, a well-established organization supporting critical transportation and logistics operations across British Columbia, is seeking a collaborative and technically strong Infrastructure Engineer to help modernize, secure, and support enterprise IT infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while also building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and operational teams. The successful candidate will combine deep infrastructure expertise with excellent communication skills, professionalism, and a customer-focused mindset.
This position supports mission-critical 24/7 operations and plays a key role in ensuring infrastructure resiliency, security, scalability, and operational continuity. There is also strong potential for this contract opportunity to transition into a permanent role. Responsibilities Infrastructure & Cloud Operations Administer and enhance Microsoft 365 services including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Defender, Conditional Access, and Purview Support Windows and Linux servers across physical, virtual, cloud, and hybrid environments Deploy, maintain, and optimize cloud and on-premises infrastructure with a focus on resiliency, scalability, automation, and security Support mission-critical systems operating in a 24/7 environment and ensure high availability Manage enterprise networking infrastructure including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, firewalls, and remote connectivity Participate in a rotating on-call support schedule (approximately 1 week in 4) Security & Monitoring Utilize Microsoft and Cisco security technologies to proactively monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and respond to security events and infrastructure issues Investigate vulnerabilities, suspicious activity, and operational incidents in a timely and effective manner Maintain and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures Support identity and access management initiatives aligned with Zero Trust principles Automation & Systems Integration Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting tools Collaborate with developers and vendors on application deployments, integrations, and web infrastructure support Deploy and manage enterprise endpoints using Intune, Autopilot, and modern endpoint management practices Stakeholder Support & Operations Partner with business units and operational teams to understand requirements and recommend technology solutions Translate technical concepts, risks, and infrastructure considerations into business-friendly communication for non-technical stakeholders Maintain accurate technical documentation for systems, procedures, configurations, and operational workflows Assist with procurement, licensing, budgeting, vendor management, and hardware/software lifecycle planning Deliver professional, solutions-oriented support and guidance to technical and non-technical users Qualifications Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field 5–8 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or enterprise IT operations Strong experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments including Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Defender, Conditional Access, and Purview Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments Strong understanding of identity and access management (IAM), MFA, RBAC, and Zero Trust security principles Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper‑V, and Azure Virtual Machines Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, Microsoft DNS, IIS, and Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Experience managing Microsoft IIS within high‑availability production environments Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, and firewall technologies Experience with enterprise monitoring, security, and endpoint management tools Strong scripting and automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, or Python Excellent troubleshooting, multitasking, organizational, and problem‑solving skills Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to support both technical and non‑technical users Valid driver’s license and willingness to participate in a rotating on‑call schedule Nice to Have Microsoft certifications such as AZ‑104, AZ‑800/801, SC‑300, MS‑102, MD‑102, or Security+ Experience with Microsoft Defender XDR, Sentinel, or enterprise SIEM/security monitoring platforms Experience with Veeam, AvePoint, or enterprise backup technologies Familiarity with Docker or containerization technologies Experience with infrastructure automation or Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) concepts Experience with Cisco security platforms and firewalls Experience with Dell server infrastructure, iDRAC, and OpenManage Familiarity with load balancing, certificate management, and SAN/storage technologies This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative infrastructure team supporting critical operational systems within a complex enterprise environment, with the potential for long-term career growth. #J-18808-Ljbffr
