Overview Expleo is currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Industrial Process Engineer to support one of our customers in Belfast on an Aerospace/Defence project. The role will be to Deliver Industrialisation activities and support through production and reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering Management team. Working within the ME team in our Aero/Defence Business Unit, successful candidates will join our experienced team, with whom you will work on varied projects in high-tech and future-oriented industries taking on exciting and responsible tasks according to your skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities Typical daily tasks will be to focus on improving how systems, processes, and people work together to deliver products or services more efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. The critical activities may vary from day to day but will typically include a mix of analysis, problem-solving, collaboration, and implementation. Observe operations on the shop floor or in service areas Map processes (value stream maps, process flow diagrams) Identify bottlenecks, waste, and inefficiencies (Lean principles) Measure cycle times, throughput, and utilization Compare current vs. target performance Time studies and line balancing Capacity planning and forecasting Scheduling and demand alignment Supply chain reliability assessments KPI measurement and analysis.
Suggest improvements to reduce manufacturing risks As part of the role you will utilise and adopt techniques, including but not limited to the following, at different times depending on the phase of the product lifecycle that you are working on: Estimating to support bids, including direct and in-direct costs and schedule capabilities New Product Introduction (incl. MRL, PRR, FAI, DFx, Tooling and Test Equipment) Reviewing the Engineering definition file and creating and approving the manufacturing file Define the process of assembly and test Managing Non-conformance and Engineering Change in production Monitoring product costs Working alongside a Workcell/APRU Manager to deliver to target KPIs Identifying and implementing improvements using various Lean techniques Qualifications Engineering Degree, or equivalent, with proven practical Industrial Engineering & manufacturing knowledge and experience Essential skills Proactive Team Player with a focus on delivery and quality who can work and act autonomously Ability to liaise at all levels of the business management structure Excellent communication skills and decision maker Assertiveness, independent, structured way of working and the ability to find oneself in a multicultural working environment Ability to influence, problem-solve Methodical, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement Strong ethical mindset, with a collaborative and inclusive approach Experience Experience in manufacturing processes and industrial best practice in a hi-tech fast paced environment.
