Job Description

A leading UK infrastructure and environmental services business is looking for a Senior Construction & Projects Lawyer to join its in-house legal team.

This is a genuinely construction projects-focused role, advising on complex, high-value infrastructure developments from procurement and construction through to operation and maintenance.

The role

You will:

  • Lead on major construction and infrastructure projects, advising from an employer/client perspective.
  • Draft, negotiate and advise on EPC, NEC3/NEC4, IChemE, MF1 and other construction contracts, alongside PPP/PFI, O&M, supply, offtake and funding agreements.
  • Support project development, tenders, procurement and project finance.
  • Advise on contractual risk, disputes, variations, delays and other complex project issues.
  • Work with contractors, subcontractors, joint venture partners, funders, Local Authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage external legal advisers on complex projects and transactions and a junior legal counsel.
  • Provide pragmatic legal advice to senior stakeholders and support the development of junior lawyers.
  • Develop precedents, processes and legal training for the wider business.

About you

We are looking for a UK-qualified Projects / Construction Solicitor with at least 8 years' PQE.

You will have strong experience of major construction contracts and infrastructure projects, ideally including NEC3/4, IChemE Red Book and MF1.

Experience in energy, waste, infrastructure, utilities or another highly regulated sector would be advantageous.

Most importantly, you will be a commercial, pragmatic and confident construction lawyer who can navigate complex projects, multiple stakeholders and competing commercial priorities.

The opportunity

A high-profile in-house role offering genuine ownership of major UK infrastructure projects, with exposure across construction, commercial contracting, procurement, project finance and disputes.

Location: UK-based, fully remote (or hybrid if preferred from one of the UK offices), with occasional travel to relevant offices and project sites as required.
