Do you believe every student deserves a pathway to success? Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a Full-Time Temporary High School Teacher to support students at the Morinville Learning Centre and Sturgeon Learning Centre.

This position is ideal for an educator who thrives in flexible, student-centred learning environments and enjoys building meaningful relationships with students through individualized instruction. Working with students in Grades 8–12, you’ll help learners overcome barriers, earn credits, and achieve their educational goals through personalized, flexible programming delivered both in person and online.

The Morinville Learning Centre, located at Sturgeon Public Schools’ Central Office, provides individualized tutoring, academic upgrading, and course completion opportunities for students in Grades 8–12. The Sturgeon Learning Centre, located in Gibbons, is an alternative high school offering personalized programming through face-to-face instruction, one-on-one support, and remote learning.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Teach English Language Arts 10, 20, and 30, Social Studies 10, 20, and 30, and other courses as assigned
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction through one-on-one, small-group, and online learning environments
  • Support students in alternative and outreach-style learning settings with flexible, individualized programming
  • Develop learning plans that promote student achievement, independence, and successful course completion
  • Use technology to communicate with, engage, and support students both in person and remotely
  • Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback to support academic success
  • Supervise Provincial Achievement Tests and Diploma Examinations
  • Collaborate with families, colleagues, and support staff to remove barriers and promote student success remotely

What You Bring

  • A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • Experience teaching English Language Arts 10, 20, and 30 and Social Studies 10, 20, and 30
  • Experience in an outreach or alternative learning setting is an asset

Strong proficiency with:

  • Google Classroom
  • Desmos
  • Google Meet
  • Zoom

Flexible, student-focused approach with strong organizational and communication skills
