Lead genU's enterprise strategy, commercial growth and M&A agenda, shaping its portfolio and Promise for the future.

The Organisation\n

GenU has created opportunities for people to live the lives they choose. As the sector undergoes significant reform and market disruption, genU is seeking a a commercially astute and outward looking executive to help define its next chapter.

\n

GenU's story began more than 70 years ago, providing support for people with disability in Victoria. The world has changed a lot since then and so has genU, adding a range of support services for all stages of life and in locations all around the nation. Services nowinclude allied health, accommodation, disability support, senior services, training, and employment services.

The Position\n

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and joining the Executive Team, the Group Executive - Chief Commercial Officer & genU Promise will lead genU's enterprise strategy, commercial growth and portfolio agenda.

\n

This executive will lead enterprise wide growth planning across organic, inorganic and adjacent markets. Working closely with the CEO, CFO, Executive Team and Board, they will translate strategic direction into measurable commercial, mission and impact outcomes, with clear focus on portfolio performance, margin, investment priorities and long term sustainability.

\n

The role will identify, evaluate and execute M&A, joint venture and strategic partnership opportunities aligned to genU's strategy. This includes building a disciplined opportunity pipeline and leading commercial due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, negotiation, integration planning and value realisation. It will also guide portfolio decisions across investment, divestment, reinvestment and rationalisation.

\n

Alongside this, the appointee will lead business development, major tender and grant strategy, bid governance and the infrastructure required to improve growth conversion and win rates. They will anticipate changes in government commissioning and sector reform, converting those insights into differentiated propositions, commercial partnerships and contracted growth.

\n

As steward and custodian of the genU Promise, the executive will ensure that commercial decisions strengthen the quality, continuity and impact of genU's services. They will shape what genU offers, how it is positioned and how it is delivered, developing propositions grounded in performance analytics, quality data, customer insight and robust commercial modelling.

\n

The portfolio also includes performance analytics, commercial intelligence and responsible AI; stakeholder engagement and advocacy; marketing, brand and communications; and diversified revenue through philanthropy, sponsorships, events, bequests and corporate partnerships. These functions will operate as an integrated commercial and strategy portfolio, supporting clearer decisions, stronger market positioning and sustainable growth.

About You\n

You are a commercially accomplished enterprise executive with a strong record in strategy, growth, M&A, business development or turnaround. Your experience demonstrates measurable outcomes such as revenue growth, improved margin, portfolio value creation, successful transactions or a fundamentally stronger business model.

\n

You bring the strategic perspective to advise a CEO and Board, together with the practical discipline to move from diagnosis into execution. You have led complex portfolio choices and can point to your direct role in evaluating and delivering acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, divestments or post-merger integration.

\n

Your background may include a senior commercial, strategy, growth, corporate development or transformation role. Experience in strategy consulting, transactions, restructuring or turnaround combined with successful executive leadership in industry, would also be relevant.

\n

Exposure to human services, health, disability, aged care or another regulated, quality sensitive sector would be valuable, but commercial depth and enterprise leadership are essential. You will understand how to balance financial sustainability and growth with service quality, safeguarding and purpose.

\n

You are an influential, low ego leader who can build a new organisational capability, work across operational and corporate portfolios, and engage credibly with Boards, government, regulators, partners and communities. You use data and commercial insight to make clear choices and bring people with you through significant change.

\n

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future direction of one of Australia's major purpose led organisations, helping define how genU grows, competes, partners, influences and delivers on its Promise for the next 75 years.
