GRANT-FUNDED CONSTRUCTION SKILLS INSTRUCTOR POOL Job Title: GRANT-FUNDED CONSTRUCTION SKILLS INSTRUCTOR POOL Department: Continuing Education Type: Non-Exempt, Part-Time, Salary: $55 per hour Posting Number: PT1826 Open Date: 11/12/2025 Open Until Filled: No Position Summary Instructors will teach in Alice, TX and surrounding communities. The Construction Skills Instructor is responsible for providing classroom instruction, distance learning instruction, and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment in a variety of construction jobs. They will teach courses related to core skills in residential and commercial construction settings, including carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, landscaping, painting, and other general construction trades.

The instructor will demonstrate skill, knowledge, and teaching ability, employing various teaching methods to meet student outcomes. They will maintain professional relationships, assess student progress, and contribute to quality improvement, accreditation, and community outreach. Responsibilities Teach Continuing Education courses for Construction Skills Training program, including carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, landscaping, painting, and other general trades using approved curriculum.

Maintain classroom environment that promotes learning and manage discipline. Prepare course syllabi and instructional materials, develop teaching methods, and provide accessible resources. Evaluate students to measure progress toward course outcomes within college grade and grade appeals procedures.

Maintain daily attendance rosters, input final grades into WebDMC, and submit copies to Continuing Education Department. Participate in department, divisional, and College meetings; engage in accreditation activities, planning, and community outreach. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.

Five (5) years of relevant work experience. Ability to plan course instruction based on approved syllabus and learning objectives. Proficiency with various teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learners.

Experience with instructional technologies (computers, internet, media). Preferred: Multicultural teaching communication skills, vocational training experience, commitment to student success, knowledge of learning community structures. Experience teaching college-level online courses or proficiency with online LMS (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas).
