Job Description

Overview Geotechnical and Engineering Geology graduates at AECOM will work on a range of projects, involving work such as desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys, geomorphological mapping, design and procurement of ground investigations, supervision of fieldwork, geological interpretation, and preparation of interpretative reports. They will also analyse geotechnical data and develop ground models for foundations, retaining walls, soil slope stability, earthworks and rock slope stabilisation. AECOM employs cutting‑edge digital tools, including Openground for data management and Leapfrog for 3D geological modelling, and offers access to various 2D and 3D numerical analysis software.

Responsibilities Conduct desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys and geomorphological mapping. Assist in the design, planning and procurement of ground investigations. Supervise ground investigation fieldwork.

Interpret geological data and prepare detailed interpretative reports. Analyse geotechnical data, develop ground models and report on foundations, retaining walls, soil slope stability, earthworks and rock slope stabilisation. Utilise digital software such as Openground and Leapfrog for data management and 3D modelling.

Qualifications Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or Geology with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent) or higher. Graduate degree (MSc/MEng) in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is an advantage. Competency in Microsoft Office; proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is desirable.

Geotechnical work experience is preferred but not essential. Willingness and ability to pursue professional qualifications through ICE, IOM3 or The Geological Society. Demonstrable interest in geotechnical projects and in promoting geotechnical activities with clients.

Flexibility to work on site, travel to other offices and adapt to changing geographical requirements. Motivation to meet client and business expectations while considering wider financial and commercial implications. Strong verbal and written communication skills with colleagues, internal and external clients.
