Job Description

Graduate EC&I engineer – Control Systems, Instrumentation & Energy Kick-start your engineering career within a major UK energy operator working on critical power generation and energy storage infrastructure. This role offers hands-on experience in a safety-critical environment, supporting the performance and reliability of large-scale industrial assets. This is a structured 24-month graduate programme designed to develop your expertise across electrical, control and instrumentation (EC&I) engineering.

You’ll rotate across key areas including control systems, automation, commissioning, cybersecurity and operational support, building the technical and professional foundations for a long-term engineering career. What you’ll be doing Analysing plant and process data to support performance monitoring and operational improvements Providing technical analysis and responding to engineering queries across the business Collaborating with engineers, system designers and project teams on live engineering challenges Supporting testing and quality assurance activities, including factory and site acceptance testing Assisting with commissioning, plant configuration and troubleshooting on operational systems Maintaining cybersecurity compliance and supporting the integrity of engineering systems and data Updating technical documentation and ensuring accurate, timely engineering deliverables Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve reliability, safety and performance Key criteria Degree (Bachelor’s 2:2 or Master’s) in Control, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline Strong interest in control systems, instrumentation and industrial automation Interest in the power generation, energy storage or renewable energy sector Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and solve engineering problems Strong communication skills and ability to work across multidisciplinary teams Proactive, adaptable and eager to learn in a hands-on environment Comfortable working in a safety-critical operational setting Location Wales-based, site-focused role within a large-scale power generation or energy storage facility What’s on offer Structured 24-month graduate engineering programme with rotational development Hands-on experience across control systems, instrumentation, commissioning and operations Exposure to real-world engineering challenges within critical infrastructure Mentorship from experienced engineers and structured development reviews Clear pathway into a permanent EC&I engineering role Opportunity to contribute to the UK’s evolving energy system Diversity and inclusion This organisation is committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
