Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Cork
Geotechnical Engineer with 25 years experience required to join a specialist geotechnical contractor with a significant presence in Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Geotechnical Engineer to develop their career within a growing team, working on ground improvement and foundation projects across the Irish construction market. The successful candidate will be supported by an experienced technical team and will gain exposure to a wide variety of geotechnical project types.
Duties
- Assist in the delivery of geotechnical design projects, including ground improvement, foundation design, retaining structures and slope stability assessments.
- Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for clients under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Contribute to ground investigation planning, procurement and interpretation of results.
- Carry out geotechnical calculations and prepare technical reports and design drawings.
- Liaise with site staff, contractors and clients throughout project delivery.
- Assist in the day-to-day running of projects and contribute to the smooth operation of the Cork office.
Requirements
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology or equivalent (BEng, MEng or MSc).
- 25 years post-graduate experience in a geotechnical engineering role within a consultancy or contractor environment.
- Understanding of geotechnical design principles, including ground improvement, foundation behaviour, retaining structures and slope stability.
- Familiarity with Eurocode 7 and geotechnical design standards.
- Good time management, communication and organisational skills.
