Tarra & Sura, a Thai fine dining restaurant and cocktail lounge opening soon in River North, is seeking to add a skilled General Manager to our opening team. The restaurant will feature a luxurious 100 seat dining room on the ground floor, and a swanky 60 seat cocktail lounge hidden below serving high-touch, experimental cocktails and thoughtful small bites. Each dish we serve is inspired by this harmony; crafted with care, seasoned with tradition, and served with heartfelt Thai hospitality." - Chef Namo The dining floor is named Tarra, the Thai word meaning nourishing and purifying water. The cocktail lounge is Sura, a Thai word meaning both courage and the pouring of drinks. As the opening General Manager , you will collaborate with Executive Chef Namo Chowcharoen, having honed his culinary expertise at Dusit Thani College and has been the Executive Chef at Franklin Room for the last four years to open this dual-concept project balancing excellent hospitality with the concept of flowing water.
The General Manager will oversee all restaurant operations, including but not limited to: Employee Relations: Oversee the interview process, hiring, and effective onboarding of new hires. Drive service standards through and beyond training. Create and oversee weekly staff schedules.
Handle employee coaching as needed. Manage working relationship between front of house and back of house to ensure cohesive teamwork during service. Carry out employee recognition, incentives, and promotion procedure.
General Operations: Effectively supervise the restaurant and bar operation. Oversee accurate monthly inventories. Analyze sales figures, labor, and cost of goods to set, monitor, and control budget for the restaurant.
Retain effective relationship with vendors and oversee receiving process. Ability to assist any part of the restaurant as situations need. Manage guest information with host team.
Manage host interaction standards. Accurate maintenance of POS system. Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and prepare floor plans for each service.
Attentive observation of guest experience ensuring positive impressions of food and hospitality. Assess areas of improvement for each service. Respond and remedy guest complaints.
Closely monitor and ensure restaurant cleanliness and maintenance. Manage and oversee the scheduling and execution of variously formatted private events. Requirements: Bachelorโs degree in business administration or hospitality or equivalent experience. 5 to 8 years of restaurant experience. 5 years of restaurant leadership experience.
Experience in executing training programs.
