Job Description
The General Manager has overall P&L ownership, managing the overall business, and leading the long-term strategic planning for one (or more) specific businesses. They are responsible for providing leadership and direction to HVAC and plumbing Service, Install, and support teams ensuring quality work on time, aligned with the budget, and to customer specifications. Great compensation and benefits along with a relocation package if required.

Forecast accurate monthly and job-based project revenue and gross profit. Drives results and accountability across team to ensure achievement of project revenue and gross profit targets.
Ensures achievement of both financial and operational objectives. Direct all aspects of operations for a specific business or geography. Ensures front-line leaders meet customer demand, service expectations, and sales targets.
Establishes operation standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. Ensures adequate planning and resources are in place for all business and production objectives. Drives culture and promotes morale and performance excellence.
Develop and maintains productive relationships with customers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. Prioritizes customer calls/jobs and ensures adequate manpower deployment. Monitors customer rules to ensure compliance.
Approves change orders and ensures completion. Oversee operation standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and on-time delivery. Manages manpower planning and resource allocation, ensuring adequate planning, communication, and resources are in place for all business and production objectives.
Maintains fleet, parts, and materials inventory and ensures accurate recordkeeping of all assets. Resolves discrepancies in a timely manner. Implement strategic and tactical changes to improve efficiency, reduce cost, increase sales, and ensure quality workmanship.
Foster continual improvement and a culture that engages employees to improve operations using technology, processes, and tools. Review dashboards and financial reports and takes appropriate action. Analyze and resolve problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labor.
Provide leadership and builds a collaborative team. Set performance expectations, communicates company direction, and hold team accountable for metrics and results. Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure all processes, procedures, and work instructions are completed according to instruction.
Ensure adequately trained resources are available for all on-going work. Ensure all processes and procedures are performed as specified and creates documentation as required. Monitor and report on operational activities, costs, and forecast data.
Support other functions by providing manufacturing and financial data for preparation of efficiency/cost analysis, bids and proposals, and budgeting purposes. Participate in creative thinking process to capture new business. Required Education and Experience Education and/or experience equivalent to a college degree and/or 10+ years of experience in distributed field service, construction, or manufacturing with 5+ years related supervisory experience and/or training. Preferred experience includes direct or indirect experience within Service-based HVAC, Plumbing or other high-skill technical trade.
Knowledge of field service principles and practices including service price/hour estimation, labor forecasting, technician dispatching, etc. Additional Qualifications Time Management: Able to track and prioritize team and individual-level tasks in a fast-paced environment with several simultaneous goals and projects. Possess initiative and motivation to act independently to solve issues.
Inspires others to achieve results and meets deadlines. Able to operate with a sense of urgency. Communication: Able to read, write and communicate professionally and effectively across diverse cultures.
Able to present information and respond to questions with peers, managers, clients, customers, and the general public on technical subjects. Comfortable working independently and in a team setting.Able to guide and mentor using both indirect and direct leadership. Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and solve day-to-day level problems.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of data/instructions in numeric or diagram form with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to follow and interpret complex schematic diagrams, assembly drawings and test specifications. Able to develop logical troubleshooting techniques based on an understanding of the product performance and requirements.
Math Ability: Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Able to statistically analyze data and recognize and/or predict trends.
Technology Skills: Word processing, spreadsheets, internet software, and email. Familiar/experienced with Service Dispatch software, Inventory Management, Sales pricing tools, etc. Experience with Service Titan or other similar Dispatch/ERP software preferred.
The physical environment requires this employee to work in an office environment, warehouse environment, customer locations, and frequently outdoors. Frequently required to use and promote use of personal protective equipment to prevent injury. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, drive, and use hands and fingers.
The employee is occasionally required to reach, stoop and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
