General Accountant

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented General Accountant to join their Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role is responsible for a variety of accounting functions including reconciliations, tax filings, treasury support, and regulatory reporting. Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary : $55-65K plus bonus

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Reconcile prepaid expenses and fixed assets, including tracking and depreciation
• Prepare and file Canadian and U.S. sales tax returns
• Complete customs and duty filings with regulatory agencies
• Prepare bottle deposit reconciliations and provincial filings
• Support Accounts Payable processes, including invoice coding, processing, and payment preparation
• Prepare commission billings and intercompany transactions
• Assist with treasury activities including reporting, foreign currency monitoring and purchases, and payment setup
• Prepare and submit Statistics Canada filings
• Contribute to process improvements and other finance-related initiatives as required

Qualifications

• Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• Minimum 1 year of accounting experience
• Knowledge of accounting principles and tax regulations
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with ERP systems; Sage X3 experience is considered an asset
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated with a strong willingness to learn and grow professionall
