Fleet Manager โ Transportation & Maintenance Operations Location: Ottawa, ON Job Type: Full-time | Permanent Compensation: $80,000 โ $100,000 (based on experience) + 3 weeks vacation + tool, booth & clothing allowance + comprehensive benefits package We are currently recruiting a Fleet Manager on behalf of a well-established and growing transportation organization. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced fleet professional with a strong background in vehicle maintenance operations, procurement, budgeting, and team leadership within a transportation or heavy-duty fleet environment. The successful candidate will oversee fleet operations, maintenance facilities, vendor relationships, and a team of licensed technicians and support staff, while ensuring operational efficiency, compliance, and cost control across the division.
Key Responsibilities Fleet & Asset Management Evaluate fleet assets and determine vehicle replacement requirements Oversee the lifecycle management and utilization of company vehicles and equipment Develop and maintain fleet service standards, operational policies, and best practices Coordinate vendor relationships, negotiate pricing/contracts, and conduct vendor performance evaluations Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards Maintenance Operations Lead and supervise day-to-day fleet maintenance and garage operations Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and annual service reviews Manage repair estimates, work orders, purchase orders, and outsourced maintenance activities Coordinate warranty claims, insurance-related repairs, and component tracking Ensure maintenance operations are completed efficiently and in accordance with safety and operational standards Maintain working knowledge of diesel and gasoline vehicle repair operations Financial & Operational Oversight Monitor fleet performance metrics, maintenance costs, and operational efficiencies Manage inventory controls, budgeting, and fleet-related cost centres Analyze operational data and provide reporting to support business decisions and continuous improvement initiatives Leadership & Team Management Provide leadership, coaching, and support to licensed mechanics, technicians, and administrative staff Promote a positive, safety-focused, and performance-driven work environment Demonstrate strong problem-solving, communication, and team-building capabilities Qualifications Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent industry experience 5โ7 years of experience in fleet management, transportation maintenance, or related operations Minimum 3 years of leadership or management experience within a fleet or maintenance environment 310T License or combined 310S/310T certification ODP Certification with A/C experience, or willingness to obtain Strong knowledge of light-duty diesel and gasoline vehicle repair and maintenance Familiarity with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and National Safety Code Experience with purchasing processes, vendor management, and procurement practices Proficient with Microsoft Office and fleet-related reporting/documentation Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Valid Ontario G Class Driverโs License with a clean Driverโs Abstract Clean Criminal Record Check required Why Join?
