Calling all heroes (immediately available accountants), we recruiting on behalf of a prominent organisation for an experienced Financial Accountant to provide critical support across calendar year-end and audit. This is an excellent 6–7 month contract for a technically strong, dependable accountant who can step into an established finance function and provide a genuine safe pair of hands through a busy reporting period.

About the Role:

\n

Joining an established finance team, you will provide hands-on financial accounting support ahead of the incumbent Financial Accountant commencing paternity leave at the end of November.

\n

Starting during October will allow for a comprehensive handover before interim audit commences in November, followed by calendar year-end and the broader external audit cycle.

\n

This is a delivery-focused role suited to an experienced Financial Accountant who can quickly understand an established environment, take ownership of their responsibilities and ensure deadlines are met throughout a critical reporting period.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Support month-end and calendar year-end close processes.
\n
• Prepare journals, accruals and other financial accounting adjustments.
\n
• Complete balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
\n
• Prepare financial reporting schedules and supporting documentation.
\n
• Assist with interim and year-end audit requirements.
\n
• Prepare audit workpapers and respond to auditor information requests.
\n
• Investigate and resolve accounting and reconciliation issues.
\n
• Maintain strong financial controls and supporting documentation.
\n
• Work closely with internal finance stakeholders to meet reporting deadlines.
\n
• Provide broader financial accounting support as required.
\n

Short but Sweet:

We are seeking a technically strong and dependable Financial Accountant with:

\n

\n
• CA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent qualification.
\n
• Strong hands-on financial accounting experience.
\n
• Proven month-end and year-end reporting capability.
\n
• Previous exposure to external audit and audit workpapers.
\n
• Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience.
\n
• Experience within a medium-to-large or complex organisation.
\n
• Exposure to large ERP environments and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
\n
• Strong Excel and analytical skills.
\n
• Commercial, government, education and not-for-profit backgrounds all considered.
\n
• A track record of delivering consistently through busy reporting periods.
\n
• Genuine commitment to seeing the contract through to May 2027.
\n

\n

Due to the timing of year-end and audit, leave flexibility will be limited during January and February. The organisation does, however, have an approximately two-week Christmas shutdown.
