The Role

An established international insurance business is seeking a Qualified Financial Accountant to join its Dublin-based finance team.

This is a broad financial accounting position with responsibility across financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, balance sheet control, reconciliations and consolidation reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager and wider finance team, taking ownership of key reporting activities while supporting the continued development of finance processes, systems and controls.

The role would suit a confident and proactive qualified accountant who is comfortable working independently, enjoys taking ownership of their work and has strong systems and analytical capabilities.

Your Role

  • Review and analyse quarterly P&L and Balance Sheet results, ensuring accurate financial reporting and KPI analysis.
  • Review financial forecasts and budgets, analysing performance and supporting accurate reporting across the business.
  • Support quarterly consolidated financial reporting in line with Group reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations across customer, vendor, suspense, bank and cash accounts.
  • Support reinsurance reporting and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with quarterly intercompany reconciliations and reporting.
  • Analyse financial performance, identifying and resolving reporting or accounting issues on a timely basis.
  • Build strong working relationships with finance teams and key stakeholders across the wider business.
  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of finance systems, processes and controls.
  • Develop and document key finance processes to strengthen the internal control environment.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive audit trails across assigned areas.
  • Support the Finance Manager and senior finance team with ad hoc projects and wider finance initiatives.

Your Skills

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong experience across financial accounting, accounts preparation, financial reporting and controls.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Confident working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities.
  • Proactive approach with the ability to use initiative and support the wider team where required.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines within a busy finance environment.
  • Strong IT and systems capability, including solid Excel skills.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Power BI would be advantageous.
  • Previous insurance or reinsurance accounting experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • An interest in and familiarity with emerging technologies, including generative AI tools, would be advantageous.
