Job Description

Company Description Adan Corporate provides bespoke advisory services to small and medium-sized enterprises across the full value creation journey, from early-stage funding to exit planning. Leveraging strong relationships with global financial institutions, banks, private equity and venture capital firms, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals, the firm delivers tailored solutions across multiple industries. Adan Corporate provides outsourced finance leadership and finance operations support to UK small and mid-sized businesses.

This role is employed by Adan Corporate (India) and deployed to the firm’s UK client- which is a leading Insurance contracting company.

Role

The Senior Accounts & Finance Executive is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of day-to-day financial transactions across all three of the client’s trading entities. The role owns the transactional integrity of the purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations, and provides the underlying data quality on which management reporting, job costing and statutory compliance depend.

The postholder is expected to work with limited supervision, to own a defined monthly close calendar end to end, to identify and escalate control weaknesses rather than simply process transactions, and in due course to review the work of junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger

•     Process supplier invoices and credit notes through operations software into Xero, ensuring correct entity, VAT treatment, nominal code and tracking category coding.

•     Match supplier invoices to purchase orders and job numbers raised in Operational software, and escalate unmatched or unallocated cost to the Finance Manager.

•     Reconcile supplier statements to the Xero purchase ledger on a monthly cycle, investigating and clearing differences with suppliers and internal budget holders.

•     Maintain accurate supplier master data, and carry out continuous supplier reconciliations.

•     Manage the shared finance inbox in line with the documented SOP, filing supporting documentation to the correct SharePoint location, and also respond to supplier queries.

Subcontractor Payments & CIS

•     Maintain subcontractor records and prepare CIS verification data for UK submission to HMRC prior to first payment.

•     Process subcontractor invoices and self-billing documentation, including payments routed through the client’s umbrella arrangements.

•     Calculate CIS deductions, prepare monthly deduction statements for issue, and validate CIS300 return data for UK review and submission.

•     Reconcile the CIS control account to submitted returns each month and investigate variances.

Month-end Reporting & Payroll Support

•     Own an assigned section of the monthly close calendar, including accruals, prepayments, and supplier and cost accrual schedules.

•     Provide supporting schedules for work in progress, accrued income and job cost analysis.

•     Candidates should possess experience in Payroll Administration, including data validation and coordination with HR or external providers.

•     Assist with audit and year-end information requests from the client’s external accountants.

•     Support ad hoc analysis and reconciliation projects as directed by the Finance Manager.

•     Follow documented finance SOPs and take an active role in improving and extending them.

Qualifications

•     Minimum three to four years’ experience in transactional finance covering purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliation, of which at least two years supporting UK-based clients or a UK group.

•     CA, CA Inter, CMA Inter, M.Com or B.Com with substantial experience

•     Practical working knowledge of Xero, including bank reconciliation, tracking categories and multi-entity working.

•     Strong Microsoft Excel skills — confident with lookups, pivot tables, filtering and reconciliation of large transaction listings.

•     Sound understanding of UK VAT principles and double-entry bookkeeping.

•     Excellent written and spoken English, sufficient to deal directly and confidently with UK suppliers, subcontractors and non-finance colleagues.

•     Demonstrable accuracy and attention to detail, with an instinct to investigate rather than accept differences.

Desirable

•     Experience in construction, property maintenance, insurance reinstatement or a related trade sector.

•     Practical experience of the UK Construction Industry Scheme, including verification, deduction statements and CIS300 returns.

•     Experience of the domestic reverse charge for construction services
