Job Description
*Summary/Objective* The Field Technician / Shop position efficiently and effectively diagnoses and troubleshoots heavy-equipment repairs and performs service repairs at customers worksites/ shop garage ensuring the proper completion to the customers satisfaction. *Required Education and Experience* The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity. * High school diploma or GED * Two-year technical school degree in heavy construction equipment technology (technician emphasis), Or at least three years experience in heavy construction equipment diagnosis and repair, and an additional minimum one year experience as a Field Technician. * Class C drivers license with a clean driving record *Preferred Education and Experience* The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity. * Commercial drivers license Class B with air brake *Essential Functions* Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Efficiently and effectively diagnoses and troubleshoots heavy-equipment repairs and performs service repairs ensuring the proper completion to the customers satisfaction * Work with a computer to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment * Read and interpret technical service information, manuals, bulletins, blue prints, and schematics * Ensure that all required parts, materials, and supplies necessary to complete the repair are ordered and obtained * Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations. * Document and maintain proper records of time spent on each repair, parts and materials used, and detailed descriptions of work performed * Continue service training education to enhance knowledge and service capabilities, and remain current on new technologies *Competencies* *Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions required. Must have a strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems* * General computer proficiency * Work well in a fast-paced, demanding team environment, with all levels of the company, and with all types of customers * Highly motivated and able to work independently with little supervision and with a strict attention to detail; able to work productively with customers and employees * Class C drivers license with a clean driving record *Additional Eligibility Requirements *_Upon offer of employment, selected candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical examination at Highways expense to determine if the candidate is physically fit to perform the duties without injuring themselves or others._ *Position Type/Expected Hours of Work* As this is a full-time hourly position, Technicians are expected to work Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, and with the possibility of overtime.
