We are seeking an experienced, security-cleared Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and infrastructure integrity of a secure, mission-critical data center. This role is responsible for managing all physical plant systems, critical infrastructure, vendor relationships, and facility compliance activities within a classified government or DoD-supported data center. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in data center operations, critical systems management (power, cooling, fire suppression, physical security), and the ability to operate within a highly regulated, secure environment.

This position demands a strong understanding of uptime methodologies, redundancy principles, environmental monitoring, and compliance with DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) facility standards. This role is essential to ensuring the physical reliability, security, and operational continuity of a classified data center environment. The Facilities Manager will serve as the senior on-site authority for all facility-related matters, driving infrastructure strategy, enforcing physical security standards, and maintaining operational excellence across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:Oversee all aspects of data center facility operations including power distribution, cooling/HVAC systems, fire suppression, physical security, and structured cabling infrastructureManage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all critical systems including UPS, PDUs, generators, CRACs/CRAHs, and building management systems (BMS)Develop and enforce facility change management procedures, including coordination of maintenance windows that minimize risk to mission-critical operationsEnsure compliance with DoD, IC, and applicable federal standards governing classified facility construction, operations, and physical security (e.g., ICD 705, DCID 6/9, NISPOM)Manage and coordinate vendor and contractor access within the secure facility, ensuring all personnel meet clearance and escort requirementsConduct regular facility audits, risk assessments, and inspection activities to identify and remediate physical vulnerabilities or infrastructure degradationMaintain and execute data center capacity planning, including power, space, and cooling (PSC) managementLead incident response activities for facility-related events including power outages, environmental alarms, and physical security breachesDevelop, maintain, and exercise Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures related to facility operationsCoordinate with IT, cybersecurity, and government stakeholders to align facility operations with mission requirementsMaintain accurate documentation including as-built drawings, equipment inventories, maintenance logs, SOPs, and operational runbooksManage facility operations budgets, capital improvement projects, and procurement of equipment and servicesSupervise facilities staff, contractors, and support personnel; provide mentorship and technical guidance Required Experience:Minimum 5+ years of experience in Tier III government data center facilities management or critical infrastructure operationsDemonstrated experience managing Tier II, III, or IV government data center environments or equivalent experienceHands-on expertise with critical systems, including:Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and generator systemsPower Distribution Units (PDUs) and electrical distribution systemsCRAC/CRAH units, chillers, and precision cooling systemsFire detection and suppression systems (e.g., FM-200, VESDA, Novec)Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) toolsExperience working within a classified or government-controlled facility environmentProven ability to manage vendors, contractors, and multi-disciplinary teams within a secure environmentFamiliarity with physical security requirements for classified spaces, including SCIFs and secure compartmented areas Education:Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is preferredEquivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered Preferred Certifications / Training:Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) – EPICertified Data Centre Manager (CDCM)Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD)OSHA 30-Hour General IndustryNFPA 70E – Electrical Safety in the WorkplaceProject Management Professional (PMP)Certified Facility Manager (CFM) – IFMACompTIA Security+ Relevant Technology Stack / Systems:Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms (e.g., Sunbird, Nlyte, Vertiv)Building Management Systems (BMS) / Building Automation Systems (BAS)Environmental monitoring and alerting systemsCMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) platformsPhysical Access Control Systems (PACS) for classified environmentsAutoCAD or equivalent for facility drawing managementPower monitoring and energy management platforms Desired Attributes:Deep understanding of data center uptime principles and Tier classification standardsStrong working knowledge of physical security requirements for classified and SCIF environmentsAbility to operate calmly and decisively during high-pressure facility incidentsExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritiesStrong communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with government clients, senior leadership, and technical teamsCommitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence in a mission-critical environmentAbility to balance long-term capital planning with immediate operational needsKnowledge of BICSI RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) or demonstrated equivalent experienceKnowledge of Uptime Institute AOS (Accredited Operations Specialist) or ATD (Accredited Tier Designer) Clearance Requirements:Secret clearance is required with the ability to upgrade— candidates will not be considered without an active Secret Our Equal Employment Opportunity PolicyThe company is an equal opportunity employer.
