Project Associate
Optimized Process Designs (OPD), a Koch Engineered Solutions company, is seeking a Project Associate to join the team. This role will coordinate, monitor, support, and actively participate in all facets of an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project – from the early development phase to commissioning and turnover. The emphasis will be on technical design with an expectation to develop the skills necessary to execute projects.
This position is office‑based Monday–Friday at headquarters in Katy, TX and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
What You Will Do
- Participate in and support the technical design and engineering oversight of project scope for assigned projects through completion.
- Coordinate or conduct the review of process equipment, vendor selection, and subcontractor services.
- Develop design documents including piping and instrumentation diagrams, valve specifications/lists, piping definitions/specifications, and equipment specifications.
- Liaise and coordinate between engineering disciplines, field construction teams, and subcontractor personnel to ensure sound engineering design.
- Actively participate in customer reviews.
- Travel up to 30% to project sites as needed.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews in the office and on‑location.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management/technology.
- Ability to create and review design drawings and calculations.
- Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPC design or field engineering experience.
- Knowledge of pipe design codes such as ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, and B31.12.
- Experience reviewing static and rotating equipment.
- Working knowledge of material specifications.
- Understanding of construction and engineering economics.
