Job Description

We're partnering with one of the UK's leading principal contractors to appoint an Environmental Manager who will play a pivotal role in embedding environmental best practice across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business where environmental performance is genuinely valued. You'll work alongside operational teams from project inception through to delivery, ensuring compliance is achieved while identifying opportunities to continually improve environmental performance and leave a lasting legacy.

Whether your experience has been gained in construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, manufacturing, waste, rail, environmental consultancy or another regulated sector, we'd love to hear from you if you have a strong environmental compliance background and enjoy working collaboratively to influence positive outcomes.

The Impact You'll Make

  • Become the trusted environmental expert across a range of high-profile projects, ensuring environmental risks are proactively managed and regulatory compliance is achieved from pre-construction through to project completion.
  • Influence project teams, clients and supply chain partners to embed environmental best practice, creating a culture where environmental performance is considered in every decision.
  • Drive continual improvement by identifying innovative solutions that enhance environmental performance, reduce risk and deliver tangible operational and commercial benefits.
  • Lead environmental assurance activities, audits and incident investigations, using your expertise to strengthen compliance, share lessons learned and improve future project delivery.
  • Champion environmental awareness across the business by coaching, mentoring and developing operational teams, helping build industry-leading environmental capability.

About You

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

  • Strong experience managing environmental compliance within a regulated industry such as construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, manufacturing, environmental consultancy or similar.
  • A sound understanding of UK environmental legislation, permitting, ISO 14001 and environmental management systems.
  • The confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels, building trusted relationships with operational teams, regulators and clients.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement rather than simply maintaining compliance.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the UK.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join an organisation delivering nationally significant projects while giving you the autonomy to shape environmental performance across multiple sectors. You'll be part of a highly respected environmental function where your expertise will directly influence project success, business performance and long-term sustainability outcomes.

If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact - not just ensure compliance - we'd love to hear from you.
