Engineering Team Lead Position We are currently looking for a Engineering Team Lead to join our Engineering team located at our office in Nashville, TN . Our ideal candidate for a Engineering Team Lead is someone who has 8+ years of experience as a Mechanical Design-Build Engineer or in a similar role.
The Engineering Team Lead balances hands-on engineering work with team leadership responsibilities, managing a group of engineers while maintaining significant project involvement and technical contribution. Primary Responsibilities Leading and managing a team of engineers, both in-office and remote, fostering collaboration and accountability. Conducting regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins to support performance and engagement.
Monitoring project budgets, engineering hours, and team productivity to ensure efficiency and profitability. Assisting with performance reviews and supporting professional development planning for team members. Collaborating with the Office Director on workforce planning, resource allocation, and staffing needs.
Overseeing engineering design and coordination for assigned projects, ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery. Managing cross-discipline integration across mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering teams. Ensuring quality control of engineering deliverables and adherence to project standards.
Providing technical direction and workflow guidance to engineering staff throughout project lifecycles. Conducting weekly debriefs with the Office Engineering Director to align on priorities and progress. Implementing and upholding IMI engineering standards, processes, and best practices.
Facilitating clear communication between engineering, field operations, fabrication shops, and project management teams. Identifying and driving opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency. Supporting technical problem-solving and contributing to innovative solution development.
Primary Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the construction industry. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to interpret and analyze technical documents, such as project plans, specifications, and drawings. Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to various stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Professional Engineering (PE) is a plus, but not required. Proficiency in Revit MEP for 3D modeling and coordination.
Experience with engineering calculation software (Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or similar). Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards related to mechanical systems. Familiarity with construction processes and project management principles.
