Engineering Manager
Brunel
Job Description
A globally significant mining development project is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager – Technical & Feasibility to support major project advancement during Pre‑Feasibility and Feasibility Study (PFS/FS) phases. This is a senior technical leadership role, positioned one level below Director, focused on engineering coordination, capital estimate accuracy, and design maturity—not execution or construction management. The role plays a critical part in ensuring engineering outputs are technically sound, cost‑aligned, and ready to support investment decisions.
The position is Vancouver‑based (hybrid) and open to either permanent or contract engagement, depending on candidate preference and project needs. Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Engineering Coordination Provide senior technical oversight across multi‑disciplinary engineering scopes. Coordinate and align engineering inputs from internal teams and external EPC/EPCM partners.
Translate complex engineering outputs into clear, decision‑ready information for project leadership. Ensure alignment between design development, cost estimates, and overall project strategy. Feasibility & Capital Estimating Support PFS and FS development, with a strong focus on capital estimate accuracy and cost maturity.
Review and challenge cost estimates, quantities, and design assumptions. Work closely with estimating, engineering, and project controls teams to ensure realistic and defendable capital forecasts. Help advance projects through early‑stage decision gates—without requiring execution‑stage delivery.
Infrastructure & Mechanical Focus Apply strong mechanical and infrastructure understanding, including: Structures Bridges Support plant and infrastructure design reviews, ensuring constructability and cost effectiveness. Interface with engineering consultants involved in plant and infrastructure design. Stakeholder & Consultant Interface Act as a key technical interface between owner’s team and engineering contractors.
Collaborate with external consultants (e.g., EPC/EPCM firms) supporting feasibility work. Support executive and investment presentations with technically credible inputs. Requirements 10+ years of progressive engineering experience within mining, metals, or major industrial infrastructure projects.
P.Eng. (Professional Engineer) designation or eligibility for registration Advanced exposure gained through: Large EPC/EPCM projects, Owner‑side engineering roles (non‑contractor only) and major feasibility study environments (PFS / FS) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred) Strong background in mechanical engineering and infrastructure systems. Demonstrated experience delivering or supporting PFS and FS‑level studies. Proven capability in capital estimating and cost accuracy for large, complex projects.
Experience working with major engineering firms (e.g., EPC/EPCM environments). Strong ability to coordinate multi‑disciplinary engineering workflows. Comfortable operating at senior technical level while remaining hands‑on.
