Job Description
We are looking for our next Engineering Associate or Project Engineer to join our team at Tualatin Valley Water District! The Position: In either position, you’ll play a key role in supporting the 142 employees who bring safe, clean, and reliable drinking water to nearly 220,000 customers. You will be essential in the planning and delivery of our water system capital improvements and maintenance projects and supporting development review for new water system connections.

Priorities and Projects: Executing capital improvement projects that enhance the resiliency and reliability of TVWD’s water system infrastructure. These projects span a wide range—from replacing aging water mains to constructing new reservoirs, pump stations, and pressure‑regulating facilities.
You'll play a key role in planning, design coordination, and delivery of infrastructure that supports long‑term system performance and community growth. Long‑range planning, including hydraulic modeling, to ensure our system can deliver water reliably to future generations of TVWD customers. Development services, including construction plan review, establishment of new service connections, and construction inspection of expansion projects.
Supporting our operations team in troubleshooting system issues, planning and design of infrastructure improvements, and operational optimization. Supporting readiness of the TVWD water system for integration with the Willamette Water Supply System (WWSS), anticipated to begin serving our customers in 2026. We’re looking for someone with the following skills, experience, and traits to join our team: Certification of registration as a Engineer in Training (EIT) in Oregon or able to obtain in Oregon within six months of accepting the position. A minimum of two years general (Engineering Associate) or four years water infrastructure (Project Engineer) experience. A committed professional who’s passionate about public service and ready to build a long‑term career ensuring safe, reliable drinking water for our community.
Desire to learn, ask questions, and develop their skills as an engineer. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, especially with our engineering consultants and internal construction and maintenance teams. Positive attitude with a good sense of humor.
Ability to be flexible in changing work priorities and can perform independently or in a team. Compensation/Benefits: We are hiring for an Engineering Associate or a Project Engineer depending on experience.
