Primary Purpose Independently performs technical tasks and contributes to the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Exelon’s utility infrastructure—including electric or gas distribution, transmission, substations, and related systems. This role involves engineering studies, technical calculations, specifications, permitting, work packages, and performance evaluations to ensure system safety, reliability, and compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements. Work may include analyzing electric, gas, and/or communications system performance and outage data, identifying and implementing safety and reliability improvements, supporting cost estimation, budgeting, integrated system planning, collaborating with engineering, operations, construction, and external partners, and conducting field inspections.
The position may require extended hours for coverage during storms or other emergencies. Primary Duties Perform engineering assignments while exercising independent discretion under the guidance of an experienced engineer—collecting data, performing complex analysis, interpreting results, drawing conclusions, and clearly presenting recommendations to management. Execute engineering tasks related to large or multiple small projects—analyzing complex power flows, performing engineering tests, and interpreting non-specific and ambiguous results.
Direct engineering tasks for large or small projects—verifying and validating studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices, and designing high‑voltage transmission and distribution circuits that meet all engineering standards and criteria. Evaluate effectiveness of current technical systems and processes and participate in design teams for high‑voltage transmission and distribution circuits. Job Scope Provide technical assistance to senior engineers, managers, and others.
Apply technical knowledge to promote a safe work environment and enhance customer satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. 2–4 years of professional engineering experience. Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
Knowledge and application of problem‑solving approaches and engineering theory. Familiarity with engineering designs, principles, and practices. General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform assignments in specific disciplines, installations, or services.
Preferred Qualifications 2–4 years of professional experience in Power Systems. 2–3 years of professional experience in relaying or Protection & Control. Graduate degree or graduate‑level work in Engineering, Business Administration, or Project Management Certification. Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) Certification.
Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills, report generation, and technical writing skills. Interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with peers and managers. Consulting and needs assessment skills.
Working knowledge of analysis software packages such as CYMDIST, ASPEN ONELINER, PSS/E, Python, PLS‑CAD, Pole Foreman, Power BI, or similar. Benefits Annual salary: $84,800–$116,600 per year, based on skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors.
