Job Description
Required Clearance: Active Tier 3/NACLC/Secret security clearance. Key Responsibilities: Perform daily operational checks of all electrical equipment. Report safety concerns, discrepancies in PPE, testing equipment, or unsafe conditions to the Safety Specialist in writing immediately.
Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, install, modify, load, and test electrical equipment including VFDs, AHUs, motors, ATSs, UPSs, industrial lighting systems, low voltage lighting systems, secondary distribution lines, circuits, power/control circuits, multi-phase AC circuits, switchgear, and related components. Monitor inspection and electrical testing equipment and PPE for current certifications and calibrations; recommend updates to Safety Specialist as needed. Write electrical evaluations and assessments.
Read and interpret blueprints, control diagrams, logic diagrams, and specifications; create red lines as required. Design, install, and determine routing, placement, type, size, gauge, balance, load, continuity, and safe operation of electrical lines, circuits, systems, equipment, and controls. Perform standard calculations for load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment and systems.
Conduct infrared surveys/scans of electrical panels, switchboards, MCC panels, transformers, bus ducts, VFDs, and other control panels per the Master Preventive Maintenance Plan. Inspect and maintain electrical distribution switchgear, panels, transformers, bus ducts, and associated equipment. Establish and document a formal inventory system for lamps and lighting spare parts.
Use hand/power tools and test equipment common in electrical trades. Keep Lead Technicians and Facilities Supervisor informed of unique situations and problems. Ensure proper housekeeping practices. ssist other trades with maintenance activities.
Respond to emergencies such as water, electrical, wind, or storms. Utilize PPE when required. ssist with monthly safety inspections, facilities projects, equipment/system repairs, new installations, and general cleaning of mechanical spaces. Complete monthly safety and equipment training.
Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Education perform electrical load calculations. Use hand/power tools, test equipment. vailable for emergency call-ins.
Strong safety awareness and reporting. Physically capable of demanding work in varied environments (indoor/outdoor heat/cold/humidity/dampness, dust/fumes, machinery, slippery surfaces). Preferred Skills: 5 years in electrical trades.
OSHA 10 certification. Experience with Building Automation Systems, industrial controls, laboratory environments (fume hoods, lab benches). Environmental lifting 50 lbs; prolonged standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, stretching.
