We are looking for a skilled Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team at a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on EC&I role where you’ll be responsible for keeping critical electrical, control and instrumentation systems operating safely, reliably and in full compliance with GMP, COMAH and ATEX requirements.
You’ll play a vital part in maintaining production continuity, supporting site safety, protecting asset integrity and contributing to the delivery of life-saving medicines.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and manage work orders in SAP CMMS.
- Respond to breakdowns, troubleshooting and resolving electrical, control and instrumentation faults quickly and effectively.
- Maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical distribution systems, motor control centres, control panels, drives and field devices.
- Inspect, test and maintain electrical installations in line with statutory requirements and site procedures.
- Carry out calibration, verification and maintenance of process instrumentation and critical site instruments.
- Support PLC, HMI, SCADA and industrial control systems, assisting with fault diagnosis and minor modifications where authorised.
- Maintain and update electrical drawings, loop drawings, schematics, SOPs, manuals, calibration records and equipment documentation.
- Work safely under permit-to-work systems, electrical isolation, Lockout/Tagout and site RAMS requirements.
- Operate, maintain and routinely test critical site systems including fire detection, fire pumps, deluge systems, purified water systems and critical process equipment.
- Support commissioning, qualification and small-scale engineering projects.
- Ensure all maintenance, calibration and inspection activities meet GMP standards and are fully documented.
- Work closely with contractors and service providers to ensure work is completed safely, compliantly and to site standards.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3, recognised apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or a related discipline.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- CompEx Ex01–Ex04 Gas and Ex05–Ex06 Dust qualifications.
- Experience working on industrial electrical systems, process instrumentation and control systems.
- IPAF certification for MEWP operation.
- Working knowledge of permit-to-work systems, electrical isolation and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
- Inspection and Testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent, would be desirable.
- PLC fault-finding experience, with Siemens experience preferred.
- Experience within pharmaceutical, COMAH, ATEX or highly regulated manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
- Confined Space Entry and Standby Person training would be desirable.

- Strong electrical and instrumentation fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to interpret and update electrical schematics, P&IDs, loop drawings and control system documentation.
- Familiarity with SAP CMMS or similar maintenance management systems.
- Calibration and instrumentation experience.
- Knowledge of PLCs, variable speed drives and industrial control systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Root cause analysis and structured problem-solving capability.
- Team player with strong communication skills across engineering, operations, quality and external contractors.
- Confidence in supporting audits, inspections and regulatory assessments.
- Ability to prioritise work safely and effectively in a live manufacturing environment.
