Overview

Are you ready to take the lead in building advanced electrical systems for cutting-edge machinery? For a client in industrial automation, we’re looking for a Lead Project Technician to be responsible for the complete assembly and on-site installation of control cabinets and machine wiring. In this role, you’ll work primarily at the client’s location near Rotterdam, contributing to the delivery of high-quality technical solutions.

This is a high-tech, hands-on role where precision, coordination, and ownership matter.

The Role

As a Lead Project Technician, you are the technical lead on-site for assembling control panels, installing machine wiring, and ensuring everything is delivered to the highest standard. You work closely with engineers and project managers, take initiative in resolving technical challenges, and play a key role in project execution. Your responsibilities include:

Preparation

  • Reviewing technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and project goals with the project engineer
  • Identifying missing or unclear details and aligning with relevant stakeholders

Assembly & Installation

  • Building control cabinets according to electrical schematics
  • Performing mechanical tasks on panels and enclosures
  • Installing and connecting electrical wiring both inside cabinets and on machines
  • Installing complete systems on-site, including cleanroom environments
  • Supporting the commissioning of machines and installations
  • Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues independently or in collaboration with the team

Coordination & Quality Control

  • Monitoring the planning, progress, and quality of the work on-site
  • Verifying that customer-specific requirements and industry standards are met
  • Performing functional and visual checks, correcting any deviations
  • Contributing input for evaluations and improvement of future projects

General

  • Working according to technical, safety, and labor regulations applicable to the site and the project

This is You

You are a hands-on technician with strong communication skills and a structured working style. You take ownership of your tasks, work well in dynamic environments, and know how to maintain high quality under pressure. You have:

  • A completed MBO-4 (EQF level 4) diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience independently building control cabinets and wiring machines
  • Experience with machine building and industrial automation projects
  • The ability to read and interpret technical/electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • A valid VCA certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
  • A good command of English (Dutch is a plus)
  • A valid EU passport or residence permit
