Job Description
The Client Land Air Sea Space is a specialist designer and manufacturer of electrical interconnecting systems. They are seeking a permanent and qualified Electrical Engineering Technician to join their engineering and operations team in Cromer, NSW.
The Role The positions will be based permanently in Cromer, NSW and reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. The Electrical Engineering Technician role is a full time position and is duly remunerated at an annual salary of $85.000 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities Liaise with customer representatives to interpret RFQ scope, technical requirements, production requirements and customer specifications. Assess parts, materials, freight, duty, taxes, labour and resource requirements to prepare fair, reasonable and conforming RFQ responses.
Manage contract review after receipt of purchase orders to ensure specifications, quantities, schedules and customer requirements are accurately recorded in SAP orders, files and documentation. Place purchase orders with suppliers to acquire parts and materials required for project delivery. Act as the technical point of contact for customer representatives regarding production queries, technical clarifications and order status updates.
Coordinate and supervise first-off builds, prototypes and First Article Inspection processes to confirm production readiness and manufacturing compliance. Develop engineering, tooling and inspection requirements to support efficient control of manufacturing output and reduce production errors.
Prepare wire preparation files, identification marker files, SAP bills of material, inspection and build record cards, Ditmco test programmes and test lead drawings. Produce manufacturing drawings and arrange required tooling, plots and supporting engineering documents for production use. Assist with training and awareness of production staff to ensure customer-specific requirements are properly understood and implemented.
Support continuous improvement through internal audits, non-conformance reporting, inspection non-conformance review and adoption of relevant industry developments. Maintain engineering practices that promote a right first time manufacturing culture and reduce rework, waste and production inefficiencies. The Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in the Electrical Engineering discipline IPC/WHMA-A-620 specialist accreditation At least 5 years of relevant experience in a similar field
At least 5 years experience in electrical cable technology At least 5 years direct hands on experience in complex cable harness assembly and multi pin connector termination to IPC Minimum 5 years experience performing insulation resistance, high voltage, continuity and functional testing
Minimum 5 years working knowledge of IPC WHMA A 620 cable and wire harness standards and structured quality assurance systems At least 5 years experience working with MIL spec or defence grade connectors, environmental sealing systems and vibration resistant interconnect solutions At least 36 months of proven experience in manufacturing mil-spec cable assemblies
Ability to manage complex technical issues; Exceptional knowledge and proven experience within electrical engineering systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
