Snapshot / Role Overview We're seeking a licensed Electrical Engineer in Newark, NJ to design electrical systems for commercial construction projects and provide engineering support during construction. Impact Deliver innovative electrical system designs that meet project requirements and comply with NEC standards Support construction teams by providing timely technical guidance and resolving field issues Ensure quality through thorough design reviews and coordination with other engineering disciplines Contribute to business growth by preparing technical proposals and supporting client meetings Responsibilities Design electrical power distribution systems for commercial buildings including load calculations and equipment sizing Prepare construction documents including one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and lighting layouts Perform short circuit and coordination studies to ensure proper electrical system protection Review electrical submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design intent Provide field engineering support including site visits, RFI responses, and construction observation Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, architectural, and structural disciplines Conduct commissioning activities and verify electrical systems operate per specifications Mentor junior engineers and designers on electrical design standards and best practices Requirements Must-Haves 5 years of electrical engineering experience in commercial construction PE license required (New Jersey or ability to obtain reciprocity) Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software including SKM or ETAP Strong knowledge of NEC and NFPA codes Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program Experience with power distribution design for commercial buildings Nice-to-Haves LEED AP certification or other sustainability credentials Experience with healthcare or mission-critical facility electrical systems Knowledge of emergency power systems and generator design Compensation & Logistics Competitive salary depending on experience; benefits include health insurance, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, holidays, and professional development opportunities.
