Indigenous candidates may be eligible for an exception to this arrangement. The role Electrical Engineer for Real Property Planning and Management (RPPM) Branch. The successful candidate will embody integrity, excellence, respect, and creativity.
The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary project delivery and engineering team and providing electrical design solutions for specialized research environments, accommodation, construction, renovation and facility support for NRC infrastructure. The projects range from office fit‑ups, renovations, restorations, alterations of NRC buildings to new construction, collaborating with civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical trades. The Engineer must deliver drawings, specifications, and cost estimates supporting utilities and safety systems.
Screening Criteria – Education Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Electrical Engineering program. Membership in a provincial engineering association (e.g., Engineering Ontario, Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec) considered an asset. For foreign certificates and diplomas, refer to Degree equivalency guidelines.
Screening Criteria – Experience Significant and recent experience designing electrical systems for institutional, commercial or industrial facilities (power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, gas detection, life‑safety, telecommunications, etc.). Experience preparing tender/construction drawings using AutoCAD and specifications in National Master Specification (NMS) format, including construction cost estimates. Experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders, including designers, engineers, clients, contractors, and other project participants.
Experience managing multiple projects and client requirements. Minimum five (5) years of experience, of which at least the last two (2) years are recent. Condition of Employment Reliability Status required.
Verification of background information over a 5‑year period is necessary. Language Requirements Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB. Assessment Criteria – Technical Competencies Solid knowledge of design practices and selection of materials and equipment for electrical systems in institutional, commercial, or industrial facilities.
Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and guidelines related to electrical systems. Solid knowledge of general documentation, tendering, and contract award practices for construction projects. Proficiency in producing electrical drawings using AutoCAD for tendering and construction.

Initial salary may be positioned in a different level of the RO/RCO scale based on expertise. The candidate who meets language requirements receives an annual Bilingualism bonus of $800.
