Job Description
This position will be responsible for electrical/instrumentation/controls (EIC) engineering for projects. These projects are primarily for Pipelines and Terminals, located in the US and some international locations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Project responsibilities are cradle to grave: Inception; scope development; estimating; scheduling; equipment specifications; construction drawings; bid packages; material takeoffs; construction contracts; technical support; construction inspection; PLC logic; HMI screens; field commissioning; training; as-built documentation; project closeout; etcetera.
All this on time, under budget, and in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner. The individual may conduct these activities individually or supervise contractors in the completion of the work. Work with/for Sunoco project managers, Sunoco operations, Sunoco maintenance, contract engineering firms, customers, contractors, vendors, and inspectors.
Must communicate and interact effectively with other company/contract disciplines to execute projects. This especially includes ensuring that multi-disciplinary areas of the project are well designed and constructed. Supervise contract personnel, engineering firms, integrators, vendors, and/or electrical contractors as needed to perform these functions.
Work with local utility representatives to design new electrical services and upgrade existing ones. Defining and ensuring the project complies with required codes, safety standards, specifications, work scope, and construction drawings. Manage multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule, and perform cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects.
Remain on location during critical commissioning activities for the duration of the startup activities. Evaluate, properly apply, and provide training for the vendor's products. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, capable of taking initiative and making decisions.
Excellent PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft products, including Word, Project, Outlook, and Excel. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail with the ability to proofread work for accuracy, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently to meet appropriate deadlines are required. Work independently with little supervision, and effectively in a team environment and independently.
Will be required to travel approximately 40-60%. Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily perform each essential job duty. The requirements for this position are listed below: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Motor Control and variable frequency drive up to 5kV. NEC and API 500. This includes extensive experience in hazardous (classified) locations (Class 1).
Knowledge of the Dutch Norms is beneficial but not required. PLC, network, and HMI systems. More hands-on experience than supervision is preferred but not required.
Piping and Instrument Diagrams, construction drawings, one-line diagrams, cable schedules, PLC panel layout drawings, loop diagrams, ISA data sheets, etcetera. Instrumentation includes pressure, temperature, flow, level, and metering. This includes the use of diaphragm seals.
Beneficial Experience (but not required): IEC 1131-3 PLC programming ideally with Allen Bradley PLCs; Omni Flow computers; HMI's such as Wonderware, RSView, and GE Intellution; V-Sat and networking design and implementation; networks; and Electrical power distribution (12.47-34.5kV). Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level: The Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job-related experience The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 6-10 years of relevant job-related experience The Staff Engineer level requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant job-related experience Preferred Qualifications: PE is preferred but not required Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions and field work Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
Occasional overnight travel may be required. Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment, will occur.
