Electrical Design Engineer – ICP / 11kV West Midlands / Hybrid From £55k upwards + Excellent Benefits About the Company Rowles Recruitment is supporting a long-established, privately owned utility infrastructure business in the appointment of an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing design team. About the Role This position will suit an engineer who is already confident delivering compliant, commercially sound electrical designs for 11kV network connections within the ICP environment. Working as part of an established technical team, you will be responsible for producing safe, cost-effective designs for substations and underground cable networks, supporting projects from desktop assessment through to detailed design and tender stage.

Salary and Benefits Package From 55k Upwards Whilst the advertised salary reflects the expected level for this appointment, the business recognises exceptional talent and is prepared to discuss an enhanced package for candidates bringing significant senior-level experience. 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday Typical hours of 9:00am-5:00pm or 8:30am-4:30pm 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays Private healthcare (Bupa) Dental scheme Death in service 4x salary 5% employer pension contribution after 3 months Occasional travel across projects as part of the role Responsibilities Produce electrical designs for network connections up to 11kV Design substations and underground cable circuits in line with NERS requirements Prepare general arrangement drawings, cable routing drawings and cross-sections Produce HV and LV equipment specifications Carry out electrical calculations including load, cable sizing, voltage drop and fault level analysis Conduct desktop site assessments to identify routing and engineering constraints Support technically compliant and commercially competitive tenders Liaise with internal teams, clients, suppliers, contractors and network operators Ensure designs comply with legal, regulatory, DNO and IDNO standards Maintain high standards of health & safety, quality and environmental compliance Qualifications Experience in an Electrical Design Engineer role within the ICP / utility connections sector Required Skills Strong background in 11kV design Experience in substation and underground cable design Understanding of contestable works, NERS, and relevant DNO / IDNO standards Ability to prepare technical drawings, specifications and electrical calculations Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach Equal Opportunity Statement The business is open on location for the right person, though there is a preference for candidates within reach of the West Midlands.
