Job Description Job Description Lead EHS Excellence at Novolex — Chelmsford, MA Step into a role where each day starts with a purposeful walkthrough of our manufacturing floor in Chelmsford, MA. You’ll check leading indicators, speak with operators, and surface improvement ideas. By mid-morning, you’re guiding the Safety Committee, aligning actions that reduce risk.
In the afternoon, you might facilitate a lockout/tagout refresher, close the loop on a near-miss root-cause analysis, or prepare an OSHA submission. You’re the catalyst who turns compliance into culture and data into safer outcomes. What You’ll Do Champion and chair the site Safety Committee, scheduling and running meetings that elevate awareness and engagement.
Design, deliver, and track safety training tailored to facility needs and corporate standards to keep our workplace secure. Lead investigations for injuries, illnesses, incidents, and near misses; identify root causes and verify corrective and preventive actions. Own emergency response planning and coordinate site drills to ensure readiness.
Create, refine, and maintain EHS policies and procedures that meet corporate and regulatory requirements, including Safe Operating Procedures, Lockout/Tagout, Hearing Conservation, and Powered Industrial Trucks. Prepare and submit OSHA and other required governmental reports accurately and on time. Develop and circulate safety metrics and dashboards, including leading indicators and incident rates, for key stakeholders.
Conduct regular plant audits; partner with operations and maintenance to eliminate hazards and close improvements promptly. Receive, maintain, and organize site Safety Data Sheets (SDSs). Take on additional EHS duties as needed to support the site.
What You Bring BS degree (safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental field preferred) and 3–5 years of relevant experience. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Proficiency with office software (word processing and spreadsheets) and strong data organization skills.
Exceptional problem-solving, prioritization, and time management under competing deadlines. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; proven ability to drive change across teams. Flexibility to support non-traditional hours as needed; the facility operates 24/5 with occasional weekends.
Presence during off-hours may be required for training, meetings, and incident investigations. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, climb, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Comfort in a manufacturing environment with seasonal heat/cold and machinery noise; ability to wear required PPE.
Compensation & Benefits A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000–$125,000 + bonus + benefits. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay depends on job-related skills, experience, and education/training.
