MCS Group are currently seeking an experienced DP Accountant to join a leading public-sector organisation. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key financial functions, provide trusted financial advice to senior stakeholders and contribute to effective financial management across the organisation.

The Role

As a DP Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial management, reporting and control. You will work across a broad range of finance activities, providing expert advice and supporting effective decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing Annual Reports and Accounts and ensuring high standards of financial reporting.
• Analysing complex financial data and providing high-quality financial information to support decision-making.
• Developing and implementing effective financial systems and processes.
• Providing expert advice and guidance on budget management, expenditure and in-year monitoring.
• Developing management accounting and financial performance reporting.
• Maintaining strong and effective working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and senior management.
• Keeping up to date with public expenditure planning, monitoring, control and accountability requirements.
• Leading, managing and motivating teams, ensuring high-quality outputs are delivered to tight deadlines.
• Managing the resources and priorities of your own finance section.
• Supporting audit, governance and internal control arrangements.

What We're Looking For

To be considered for this opportunity, you must:

Be a fully qualified accountant and a current member of one of the following professional bodies:

• Chartered Accountants Ireland
• ICAS
• ICAEW
• CIMA
• ACCA
• CIPFA
• Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland

AND

Have at least two years' post-qualification experience gained within the last ten years in a finance-related environment, covering one or more of the following areas:

• Financial planning and budgeting
• Financial accounting and/or auditing
• Management accounting and cost analysis

We're particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate strong analytical ability, excellent communication skills and the confidence to provide financial advice and guidance to a wide range of stakeholders.
