Job Description

The Director, Product Cost Analyst is a senior-level financial and operational leader responsible for cost governance across the children’s apparel portfolio (newborn through big kids). Own divisional product costing integrity from BOM accuracy through landed cost and deliver sustained margin improvement via yield optimization, design-to-cost, and sourcing/geo-mix scenarios. Partner with Merchandising, Sourcing, Finance, and Technical Design to meet or beat divisional IMU/GM targets while protecting brand standards.

Key Responsibilities 1) Cost Governance & Data Integrity Own BOM accuracy in PLM: maintain materials, yields, trims, and consumption assumptions with strict revision control. Maintain standard and landed costs in ERP; reconcile to POs and actuals; drive data quality controls and exception alerts. Standardize divisional costing methods, calendars, and review checklists across assigned kidswear categories. 2) Seasonal Costing & Variance Control Lead seasonal pre-cost and final cost cycles; reconcile season-over-season and year-over-year variances and quantify drivers.

Publish regular BI dashboards covering IMU vs. target, cost deltas, PPV, and exceptions. Maintain a clean historical cost library for negotiation leverage and hindsight reviews. Run fast what-if models on fabric substitutions, feature changes, pack changes, MOQ/MCQ impacts, and sourcing shifts.

Execute FX and duty sensitivity analyses and country-of-origin switch scenarios; brief leadership on cost outlooks. Provide FOB and landed-cost inputs and IMU guardrails to inform merchant pricing decisions; no ownership of MSRP. 4) Yield, Marker Efficiency & Product Engineering Drive marker efficiency and yield improvement in partnership with Technical Design and Cutting teams. Lead cost-down initiatives including consumption optimization, construction simplification, and vendor consolidation with quantified annualized savings. 5) Cross-Functional Decision Support Chair divisional margin reviews and present trade-offs for VP/SVP approval at key calendar milestones.

Partner with Sourcing on fact-based should-costs; Sourcing retains factory negotiation ownership. Identify and communicate risk related to duty changes, freight volatility, and commodity shifts with mitigation plans. Manage, coach, and develop a team of analysts; build skills in consumption modeling, tariff modeling, and analytics.

Establish performance metrics for cost accuracy, cycle time, savings delivery, and data quality. Qualifications 7-10 years of apparel product costing or sourcing finance experience; 3–5 years leading teams in high-volume apparel. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, or Textile Engineering.

CPA, CMA, or Lean Six Sigma certification a plus. Strong systems capability across PLM, ERP, advanced Excel, and BI tools. Demonstrated fluency in IMU/GM math, FOB and landed-cost calculations, and consumption mechanics.
