Job Description
Director of Nursing (DON/DNS) – West Newton Healthcare, West Newton, MA We have a great opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to lead nursing activities at West Newton Healthcare. The position requires a proven Director of Nursing with a history of successful DPH survey outcomes and a passion for senior care. Key Responsibilities Maintain and implement nursing policies and procedures that align with nursing practice standards, facility philosophy, and operational policies while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Communicate policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor their implementation. Apply knowledge of Key Clinical Quality Indicators, proactively monitoring and implementing systems to meet or exceed company thresholds. Promote teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication among staff.
Promote customer service and hospitality, addressing and resolving complaints or concerns from residents or families regarding nursing services. Coordinate and develop ongoing QAPI activities for nursing services, monitoring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements through rounds, interviews, and record reviews; compile findings for the Quality Assurance Committee. Assist the Administrator in preparing staff for inspection surveys.
Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) licensed by the State Board of Nursing in Massachusetts. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (preferred). At least five years of experience in a long‑term care setting, with 3-5 years as a Director of Nursing.
Strong knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, and familiarity with laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to long‑term care. Experience as a leader with strong clinical skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records.
