Regional destination for advanced care in oncology, neonatology, and craniofacial medicine. Responsibilities Strategic Planning Partner with others to develop a department strategic plan aligned with the division’s plan. Collaboratively formulate objectives, goals, and strategies related to initiatives.
Develop short‑ and long‑term goals that identify target conditions. Coordinate the implementation of interventions to meet department‑level goals. Communicate, implement, and evaluate the care area strategic plan.
Operations Leadership Partner with others to enhance patient care through interdisciplinary activities such as education, consultation, management, technology development, or research opportunities. Apply systems theory to understand how parts of a system relate to the overall system. Maintain knowledge of current nursing practice and the roles and functions of care team members.
Evaluate staff competency and intervene to optimize performance and ensure safe, high‑quality care. Lead patient/family advocacy and promote patient‑centered decisions. Maintain visibility and open communication with staff and department leadership.
Communicate plans and decisions to department staff and stakeholders. Assert views in a non‑judgmental manner and reflect on decision‑making methods. Practice within shared‑governance structures to promote appropriate decision‑making.
Celebrate successes and accomplishments. Financial Management Achieve financial targets and manage productive, non‑productive, and premium pay. Collaborate with the Professional Practice Leader to prioritize and allocate resources for department education and practice priorities.
Develop innovative solutions and apply strategies to obtain appropriate resources for nursing initiatives. Promote activities that inform others about cost, risks, benefits, or care plans. Human Resources Use evidence‑based leadership to promote desired behaviors.
Develop a high‑functioning workforce in collaboration with department leadership. Recognize and reward exemplary professional practice. Mentor and coach staff progressively.
Monitor and evaluate application of practice standards. Collaborate with leadership to facilitate behaviors that impact safety, quality, and satisfaction. Lead recruitment and retention of highly qualified staff.

Qualifications Required BSN required; Master’s degree in nursing or related field required. Seven (7) years of relevant clinical experience and five (5) years of progressive nursing management experience, including oversight of multiple units or complex programs. Demonstrated ability to lead in a large, matrixed health system.
Licenses or certifications: Current unencumbered Oregon RN license. Professional certification in nursing leadership (e.g., Nurse Executive/Administrator) required within 3 years of hire. Preferred Doctoral preparation.
