Job Description
VMS has partnered with a leading Phoenix based manufacturer. As Director of Engineering, you will lead the entire engineering organization, overseeing product development, innovation, regulatory compliance, and technical excellence. You will guide cross-functional teams in designing, developing, and launching industry-leading products for our client.
Key Responsibilities Lead all engineering functions including mechanical design, electrical systems, testing, compliance, R&D, and manufacturing engineering. Oversee the full product development lifecycle from concept through production launch and warranty support. Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, Quality, Warranty, and Supply Chain teams to bring new products to market and improve existing platforms.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including FMVSS, NHTSA, ADA, and OEM requirements. Drive innovation in accessible vehicle technology and system integration. Mentor and develop a high‑performing engineering team.
Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and risks. Establish engineering processes and change management systems. Support continuous improvement and root cause analysis initiatives.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred). 10+ years of progressive experience in product development and engineering leadership. Strong knowledge of automotive or mobility systems, manufacturing processes, and compliance standards. Experience managing cross‑disciplinary engineering teams.
Proficiency with PLM, CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks), and project management methodologies. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Experience in adaptive mobility or vehicle upfitting preferred.
Knowledge of ISO standards, Lean, and Six Sigma preferred. Familiarity with vehicle testing and safety validation preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
