Job Description

We are partnering with our non-profit client in San Francisco, CA to recruit a Director of Development and Communications to join their team on a permanent basis! This is a new leadership opportunity for the organization, and you will be responsible for scaling their fundraising and philanthropy efforts to a new level. In this role, you will be responsible for partnering closely with the board and Executive Director to review historical development strategy and build a comprehensive plan for ongoing fundraising, leveraging corporate, individual and major gifts partners, events, grants and brand awareness.

You will manage a small team of direct reports in support capacities across digital and traditional communications skillsets, but will also tactically develop, build and nurture relationships with donors. You will also identify opportunities for grant funding for the organization, and facilitate those processes with the team. To be a fit, you should bring 5+ years of senior-level, strategic leadership experience in a development, philanthropy and/or communications capacity with a strong focus on scaling revenue opportunities and visibility for the org.

Leading small teams of direct reports in that experience is required, along with tactical experience in major and individual giving campaigns, grants management, digital marketing and events. Proficiency in database tools, email marketing platforms and similar are required for consideration, but you will have say in reviewing and optimizing their current tech stack. This is a smaller organization with BIG reach in the San Francisco community!

Your work in this role will directly impact humanitarian and social services cause in the city. This is a fully onsite, permanent, salaried role with a comprehensive benefits package. Their office is located in close proximity to public transit, and there is first-come, first-served street parking available.

Pay ranges from $110,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on relevant experience. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, 403(B) plan with org match, separate accruing sick time and PTO (increasing with tenure) at three weeks total annually, and other supplemental benefits options. You will: Manage a small team of direct reports in support capacities across digital and traditional communications and marketing, with a focus on guiding campaigns that drive revenue development, new funding streams and brand awareness for the org Collaborate closely with senior leaders and the board to scope strategic, long-term fundraising plans Serve as a tactical fundraising expert for the organization, developing and nurturing relationships with corporate partners and major gifts donors Write and edit organizational communications, website content, press releases and similar to ensure consistent, cohesive updates and proactive communication to grow brand awareness Plan and execute fundraising events Guide grants research, writing and process management Serve as a strategic leader within the organization, managing departmental reporting, hiring and similar, as needed Your experience should include: 5+ years of experience as a leader in non-profit development, fundraising, communications and/or marketing with experience managing teams of direct reports Deep knowledge of integrated marketing and communications that drive revenue opportunity, with experience curating and overseeing corporate donation, individual giving and events campaigns across digital and traditional marketing channels History of strategic planning, forecasting and planning in the development and fundraising space, with experience working closely with leadership, finance, community engagement and board team members to align organizational goals with fundraising plans Proficiency in CRM/database platforms, email marketing tools, social media channels and more Experience guiding grants research and processes Comfort blending both strategic and tactical work, jumping in to solicit donations, nurture relationships, execute on campaigns, etc., as needed Sound like you?
