Job Description
Job Summary A Direct Support Professional (DSP) works closely with individuals who have disabilities to help them lead independent and fulfilling lives. DSPs aid with activities of daily living (ADL) and development of life skills, while assisting individuals to gain community access. DSP responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist clients with their ADLs including personal hygiene, medication administration, housekeeping, and preparing/serving meals. Provide support in fulfilling the client’s interests in community integration, companionship, and relationship building. Ensure the clients receive proper care by adhering to their individual plan of care. Assist with general health. Maintain a safe environment. Assist in developing and carrying out goals. Provide transportation as necessary. Follow UCPRI policies and procedures. Maintain certifications and training. Complete mandatory paperwork as required.
Physical Requirements Regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools and controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, talk, and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, and sit, and may occasionally be required to lift/transfer up to 50-70 pounds alone, or occasionally up to 200 pounds with the assistance of other staff.
