Job Description
Savor is a venture-backed startup pursuing transformational technology to produce high-quality, healthy and affordable fats without negative climate impact. We are seeking a Product Development Scientist to lead the development and testing of the new class of products we're bringing to market, primarily based in San Jose, CA. Design and execute experiments to develop new fat formulations driven by customers’ feedback and requirements Characterize the functional and chemical properties of fat formulations to understand performance benefits, gaps, and opportunities Design and execute experiments to develop fundamental understanding of Savor’s product performance Effectively document and communicate ideas, plans, and results externally to customers and internally across teams PhD. or MS/BS with equivalent experience in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, food science, or related field with 4+ years relevant experience working in product or materials development Well-organized and data-driven approach to problem solving and experimental design, driven by curiosity and attention to detail Experience with industrially relevant food-processing techniques and protocols in edible fats and oils is a plus Experience with food manufacturing regulatory and compliance requirements is preferred Our promise is that a real person is reviewing your application when received Our current physical office is located at the San Jose Biocube in south San Jose, CA.
This is a hands-on, on-site position, so you will need to be able to commute to our office or be willing to relocate. Equity participation at a meaningful stage in Savor’s growth. This role is eligible to participate in Savor's performance bonus program, currently under development.
The program is anticipated to offer a target bonus of 10-15% of base salary, tied to individual and company performance. Health, dental, and vision coverage.
